  1. Beauty, a Haiku and the yet released bloom. Vicki, was this an Iris?

Yes, the mature flower looks a bit like a large lady slipper and retains that beautiful deep color. (Or, should I say ‘colour’ since the photo was taken in Canada?)

      • I love it when people spell as thy were taught. I also enjoy when they ‘munch-it up’ … I follow the pastry chef, David Lebovitz, a pastry chef native to the U.S., but now living in Paris. Folks have been known to correct his sentences, grammar and punctuation. He takes it all in stride and politely reminds them, “I’m too busy concentrating on the business of creating and I don’t have the time or money to hire an editor. My publisher does that when we get a collection of recipes and notes together and feel that it’s time to prepare for going to press”. … I had to ad-lib a bit, but that’s the jest of his thoughts. I love that man!

My first husband was born and raised in New Orleans. His father was in the theatre business. Note that I didn’t spell theatre as folks in the U.S. are taught. Theater is the ‘correct form of spelling,’ but tell that to the Cajun French and you’ll have a fight on your hands.

I work to better my skills, but at my age, 63, my number one concern is connecting with people. You spell as a Canadian does. I would love that, unless of course you go all French on me. My grandmother refused to speak her native tongue once her family had immigrated. Her mother told her that they were American’s and they must respect the traditions and language of their new home. Vicki, I ain’t got no time to pull up translator software. I is too busy chatting with the likes of you…friends. 😉

I enjoy receiving comments from readers all around the world as well. A few times I’ve had loads of fun trying to figure out exactly what they were trying to communicate, but I’ve enjoyed them all.

Did you know it’s spelled theatre in Canada? At least around the Ottawa area it is.

As for me, I was born Floridian but spent a good percentage of my life in Canada and did a considerable amount of writing there so I picked up the spelling nuances. Occasionally I find myself ‘writing Canadian’, but usually catch myself. 😉

    Thanks Peggy!

By the way, I’ve had an offer to do some travel writing and your blog sounds like so much fun that I’m considering doing it!
